In the UK we do not know how many trans people are dying by suicide or other preventable and premature deaths. No official body is counting everyone. The various statistics that do exist are incomplete, lack detail, or do not properly represent trans people.

Every single preventable or premature death is one too many. The community knows that far too many people are dying. However, there is no complete UK memorial for trans people to collectively remember and honour everyone who has died, and no detailed data or analysis that can inform or create change.

We want to address that. We are asking bereaved people to tell us about those who have died, so we can build a community evidence base. This will inform a future co-created public memorial, create a clearer evidence base, and enable action.
