Resist

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to contribute to this project. Join us in working towards ending the preventable and premature deaths of trans and non-binary people in the UK, and remembering all those who have died.

Join an advisory group

We are currently seeking expressions of interest to join our advisory groups:

  • Bereaved Families and Friends Group - for friends and relatives of trans and non-binary people who have died preventable or premature deaths in the UK. There will be opportunities to get involved in or inform the project, and/or coming together with other families in a supportive environment.

  • Campaigner and Advocacy Group - for campaigners, advocates, and researchers proactively campaigning for trans rights and safety in the UK. This group will primarily be for trans and non-binary people, and a small number of active and expert allies.

  • Lawyers Group - for inquest and human rights lawyers or caseworkers involved in legal advocacy relevant to the deaths of trans and non-binary people in the UK. There will be scope to inform the project, as well as building collaboration and sharing information for strategic and well informed legal work.

Expenses and payments will be available to facilitate people getting involved in these advisory groups in 2026. All families will be offered payment for their time. Campaigners and advocates will be offered payment on a sliding scale policy, dependent on income. Payments are made possible through Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s development funding.

Join the board

We are also seeking expressions of interest from potential board members, to support the governance and oversight of the project. This is a voluntary position, though there may be some opportunities for paid work on specific elements of the project.

We welcome expressions of interest from anyone. We are particularly interested in hearing from:

  • people with board or governance experience,

  • people with relevant expertise (e.g. law, healthcare policy, trans rights, post-death investigations)

  • people with finance and/or fundraising experience

  • people who are passionate about these issues and are trans women or femmes, who are underrepresented in this area of work

  • people who are passionate about these issues and are from racially minoritised backgrounds, who are underrepresented in this area of work

Other ways to get involved or support

We’d love to hear from anyone who is interested and can offer skills, experience, knowledge, or just general support.

If you are interested in the project but are not sure how you can contribute yet, please sign up to receive updates below. We will be sharing opportunities to take action and support Trans Lives and the bereaved people we work with in the near future.

You can also support us today by spreading the word about us on social media (so far, we are on Instagram), following our work, or donating.
